Pink Women Fly Across Finish Line

On a lovely Lymm day a field of close to 100 lovely ladies competed at the inaugural “Pink Women’s Triathlon” so named because it intended to raise as much money as possible for the worthy Genesis Appeal whose adopted colour is...pink.

The sprint involved a 500m swim, 28km bike and 5km run and was a deceptively tough little race won by Man Tri athlete, Amy Hibbert.  Closely following her was Warrington Tri rival Leila Coulter. Gold medalist Amy demonstrated her class on the day by coming first in all her disciplines to record a great time of 1:26.  Charlotte Wormleighton sprinted into the bronze position in her 38th sprint triathlon and she just keeps getting better and better. Gold next time!

The supersprint race saw three southern superstars storm to the North to take away the silverware. Maxine Burgess, Rebecca Cosgrove and Judit Leszkovich from Newmarket, Newport and Hampshire respectively competed brilliantly finishing in highly respectable times.

Next years’ Pink Women’s Triathlon takes place on the 28th August at the Lymm Leisure centre – we look forward to seeing you all again then.
